Ayşe Yılmaz, founder of Ottan Studio, which designs and produces bio-composite materials, joined us at İskele on Thursday, 24 February 2022, at 18.45 for a talk titled “A Sustainable and Environmentally Conscious Approach to Design: Ottan Studio.”
The talk explored alternative approaches to reducing resource consumption and addressing the climate crisis. Through examples from Ottan Studio’s work, Yılmaz discussed the use of bio-composite materials in design and their potential contribution to reducing environmental impacts.
Ottan Studio is an impact-driven enterprise that uses its upcycling technology to design and produce circular bio-composite materials from various forms of food and agricultural waste, including fruit pulp, nut shells and leaves. Developed to reduce resource consumption and help address the climate crisis, Ottan materials are used in industries such as construction, furniture and lighting as alternatives to wood, stone, acoustic surfaces and solid-surface materials.
