DESCRIPTION:The theme of this month’s “Matter - 1” material workshop was paper. The workshop\, consisting of two sessions\, began with its first session held at İskele on January 15\, 2022\, at 14:00. In this session\, the historical development of paper and its contemporary formation were discussed\; topics such as types of paper\, their properties and production processes\, paper sizes and thicknesses\, and the use of paper in design were presented by Yüksel Yücel.\r\n\r\nThe second session took place on Saturday\, January 29\, 2022\, where participants had the opportunity to observe different types of paper materials on site\, and to examine their production processes and applications.\r\n\r\nYüksel Yücel\, born in Istanbul in 1968\, began his journey with paper in the late 1980s. He has worked on rare artifacts found in libraries\, palaces\, and museums\, providing consultancy on selecting the most appropriate paper\, printing\, and binding techniques\, as well as overseeing facsimile production processes. He has continued his work by specializing in handmade paper\, fine art paper\, standard papers\, acid-free papers\, and custom-made papers.\r\n\r\nDuring the event\, HES code checks were conducted and mask use was mandatory.
