DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Open Studio\,” a gathering was held where design students and young professionals came together to work on their projects and benefit from a shared working environment. An expert designer accompanied the participants throughout the event.\r\n\r\nThe Open Studio took place at Kuzguncuk Pier on Wednesday\, February 16\, between 14:00–18:00\, with the participation of Alper Derinboğaz\, founder of the Istanbul- and Berlin-based design office Salon Architects. As part of the application process\, participants were asked to submit a statement of intent not exceeding 250 words\, and the capacity was limited to 10 people.\r\n\r\nDuring the event\, HES code checks were conducted and mask use was mandatory.\r\n\r\nAlper Derinboğaz\, born in 1982\, graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 2005. He received a Fulbright Scholarship for the Advanced Architectural Studies program at the University of California\, Los Angeles (UCLA)\, where he also received the UCLA Graduate Award. In 2010\, he founded Salon—used in French to describe “a meeting place for new ideas or critiques.” Alongside his professional practice\, he has served as a studio instructor in architectural design at Istanbul Technical University and as a jury member in various competitions.\r\n\r\nProjects he built—Gate\, Panorama\, and Augmented Structures—were included in the “Best Architectural Selection of the Year” in 2011\, and in the same year he received the Arkitera Young Architect Award. Derinboğaz has received numerous international awards and recognitions\, including the German Design Award and Green Good Design Award in 2018\, and The Plan Award for Innovative Architecture and the Architizer A+ Award in 2015\, when he was also a YAP finalist. His work was exhibited in the Turkey Pavilion at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale\, marking Türkiye’s first participation. In 2019\, he was selected by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies as one of “Europe 40 Under 40\,” and in 2020 he was named among ArchDaily’s Best Young Architectural Practices.
