DESCRIPTION:Madde - 1: Textile | This edition of the Madde - 1 material workshop focused on textiles.\r\n\r\nThe first session of the two-part workshop took place at FN Art Atelier on Saturday\, 14 May\, at 11.00\, under the guidance of weaving artist Fırat Neziroğlu. Through Neziroğlu’s presentation\, participants explored textiles and fibres\, including different types of natural and synthetic fibres\, their properties\, production methods and forms of diversification.\r\n\r\nThe second session\, designed to offer participants hands-on experience with the materials\, began at 14.00 on the same day. Textile practices and examples of the examined textiles being used in combination with other materials were discussed.\r\n\r\nApplications were submitted by sending a letter of intent of no more than 250 words to [etkinlik@turkiyetasarimvakfi.org](mailto:etkinlik@turkiyetasarimvakfi.org). Participation was limited to 16 people\, and the application deadline was Wednesday\, 11 May\, at 17.00.\r\n\r\nFırat Neziroğlu was born in İzmir in 1981. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Weaving Programme of the Department of Textile Design at Dokuz Eylül University’s Faculty of Fine Arts\, which he began in 1997. In 2000\, he introduced his Three-Dimensional Weaving Loom invention. He also developed a particular interest in rhythmic gymnastics.\r\n\r\nNeziroğlu interpreted traditional weaving and weaving-drawing techniques through a modern and distinctive approach. Alongside colour\, texture and form\, he drew on traditional Anatolian weaving techniques and local fibres. In addition to his characteristic woven-painting technique\, he used his knowledge of textiles to produce felt sculptures. He shaped wool like a second skin to evoke the hard and heavy character of marble. He also designed menswear collections inspired by Anatolian wisdom and presented his designs in various countries around the world.
